For a long time I had been hanging my washing directly onto coat hangers once I took them out of the washing machine and hanging them on the clothes line on their hangers. This was quick and easy but in order to do this I needed hanging space in my laundry. So I used one of those portable clothes racks, but I found that they kept on breaking so I was going through them at a rate of 1 every couple of months. After my last one broke (after only having it for 4 weeks) I decided that I had had enough, so I changed the way I dried my families clothes.
I now do my washing during the day and hang it on the line at night (it is summer here in Australia, so it's much cooler to hang it up and take it off just before it gets dark). As soon as I bring it in I sort it into piles; a pile of underwear and a pile for each member of the family. Now this is where I started to run into some problems, because we have very little drawer space the majority of our clothes are on hangers in our wardrobes, so I then had the task of taking each family members pile of clothes and hanging them in their wardrobes but of course by this time most of my kids are in bed and the baby is asleep in my bedroom, so I wouldn't put the clothes away and they would pile up. So now I have put a plastic box in the bottom of each wardrobe and this box is for clean clothes only. That way I can get the clothes put away (out of sight at least and in the right wardrobes) and my eldest kids hang their own clothes up the next day and I can do the younger kids clothes when I get around to it. I've decided that it doesn't have to be perfect it just has to get done.
